The benefits of using a 3D visualisation camera system while performing laparoscopic surgery will be assessed using an objective scoring tool of operative skills.
The aim of the project will be to compare operative efficiency, operation times and complication rates when using a 3D visualisation camera system versus a 2D visualisation camera system.
This project will make use of pre-recorded digital videos of laparoscopic cholecystectomy cases operated using a 3D visualisation camera system but recorded and viewed in 2D only. These cases will be compared using an objective scoring tool of operative skills with cases operated on using a 2D visualisation camera system. The aim of the project is to determine whether there is any objective benefit to using a 3D visualisation camera system in terms of operative efficiency, operation time and complication rates
